Manchester United assured Mourninho that he would have full control over the team’s transfers and he made an impact in that regard over the summer. Ownership has invested heavily both on Jose as a manager and with the players that he has targeted.
After disappointing seasons with David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal leading the way, Manchester United were ready to spend what was necessary to get the best possible players and staff to Old Trafford. The Glazer family opened up the checkbook in any way they could, including breaking the world transfer fee record along the way.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Eric Bailly and Paul Pogba all came on board and each have contributed in some way already. Identifying needs in the current squad could end up defining how United’s 2016-17 campaign will end and be remembered. The building blocks of future success could also be secured in the coming year.
The club needs to let Jose make improvements this coming January. There is a strong chance that he will be able to find the pieces that could get Manchester United back on track in the Premier League.
