The Attacking Midfield

If you’re looking for a group to blame for Tottenham’s struggles as of late, the attacking midfield wouldn’t be a bad place to start. Pochettino has struggled to get consistent contributions from anyone in his attacking midfield trio.

The suspension of Moussa Sissoko leaves the Spurs manager with few credible options here. As such, expect Pochettino to go with one of his very typical starting trios. Look for Erik Lamela, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen to start the match against the Foxes.

Last year, this group’s involvement was a recipe for success. Of course, they also had the luxury of playing behind Harry Kane. This year, without their English talisman, the group has struggled collectively.

The group will need to remain patient, but also be prepared to strike when a scoring chance presents itself. Leicester are going to put as many men behind the ball as possible in an effort to frustrate the Spurs attack. Tottenham’s attacking midfield must walk the fine line between patience and imposing their will on the opponent.

If Tottenham are going to break down the Foxes, they’ll need at least one of this trio to play up to their full ability. Alli or Eriksen will likely have to find the back of the net to power Spurs to a victory.
