Stoke are hoping to continue their form as Swansea look to turn their season around
Stoke City has been in great form recently. They have won back to back matches, taking eight points from their last four games. Their season seemed to be on the decline until they had a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Old Trafford against Manchester United.
Midfielder Joe Allen had four goals in his last five matches. including a brace against Sunderland in a 2-0. Shaqiri has found his form as well, grabbing himself a brace in a 2-0 win against Hull City.
Players like Arnautovic and Bony are hoping to feed off the form of these two, as this could spell trouble for any opposing team.
After an opening day win against Burnley, Swansea have grabbed just two points from their last eight fixtures. Their lack of offense has not helped the cause, with the team scoring just eight goals in nine weeks, which is tied for the league’s third worst tally.
Their summer signing Fernando Llorente has only scored one goal since joining the club from Sevilla. He does not seem to fit the Premier League style of play, and Swansea often find themselves playing Gylfi Sigurdsson as a false-9 up top.
Swansea midfielder Leroy Fer has been the clubs brightest point thus far. He is the clubs leading scorer with four goals this season. His position has been slowly moving forward since the start of the season. He started as a holding midfielder, but has recently moved into a more advanced role as an attacking midfielder. The club hopes he can continue his form in the coming weeks and play off of him more often.
Both clubs currently find themselves well below where they would like to be. Stoke sit in 16th, with Swansea just one above bottom in 19th. The upcoming game will be a huge three points if one club can come out on top. Swansea will need to stop Shaqiri if they hope to win the game, but with the form he is in, this will be no easy task. Stoke are going to look to continue to quiet the dormant Swansea attack throughout the match.
The match will take place at 4pm EST on Monday, October 31st at the Britannia Stadium.
