Germany’s Bundesliga often has a very unique flair in how goals are scored. Some of the best offensive numbers do not necessarily come from centre-forwards throughout the league. There is a great tactical emphasis on the ability to function in multiple positions.

Players like Thomas Muller, Douglas Costa and Franck Ribery on current champions Bayern Munich come to mind in this regard. All three players can provide major offensive firepower, but do not normally do so from a striker position. Muller and Costa especially find themselves in a multitude of different positions, from the midfield to the wing. Muller is constantly near the top of the Bundesliga scoring charts season after season thanks to his unique role.

Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus is a player who can defy the label of any position. From midfielder to winger to forward, you name it and the FIFA 17 cover star has played it for the Black and Yellow. Thorgan Hazard of Borussia Monchengladbach can absolutely take over a match from his midfield spot, just like his older brother Eden can do for Chelsea in the Premier League.

Despite scoring abilities from various positions in a line-up, a club will often be able to achieve great success over the course of a season with a strong presence at striker. Physicality, strength and the ability to hold up play for others to enter the attack are some aspects of what the best in the business can bring to a team.

Around the Bundesliga, these are the forwards who stand out among the rest.
