Wing Backs

Remember Tottenham fans, Spurs have a very important match at Arsenal this weekend. That means that Pochettino will not be fielding his best 11 even in an important Champions League match.

That reality won’t be more apparent anywhere on the pitch than at the two wing back positions. They are two of the most demanding positions in Pochettino’s lineup and squad rotation is a necessity.

At right back, I’m really anxious to see how Kieran Trippier can perform in such a crucial match. He isn’t the athlete that Kyle Walker is, but he’s a more skilled offensive player. Look for his crosses to be a crucial aspect of the Spurs attacking game plan.

At left back, you’ll see another second choice starter. Ben Davies has been a regular member of the starting XI this season, but only due to Danny Rose’s injuries. The Welsh man is not even an average athlete for a left back, but his composure and skill on the ball can also assist the club going forward.

There’s an argument to be made that Tottenham’s second choice wing backs are better going forward than the men they play behind. I wouldn’t necessarily go that far, but they both have different offensive skills to bring to the match.
