3. Tottenham are due

At some point, Tottenham just have to become the recipients of some good luck. They haven’t played well lately, but they certainly haven’t gotten any good fortune in the last few minutes either.

Just think back to how many times Spurs have hit the bar lately. Jan Vertonghen and Dele Alli both hammered the post against Leicester last weekend. If either shot is just a few inches lower, Spurs would be feeling much differently about themselves.

Even Leverkusen’s one goal on Wednesday was a little bit lucky. They needed a fortunate deflection to get the ball into position for the goal. If that ball bounces in a different direction, Spurs may have been able to earn another frustrating draw.

You can’t expect to catch all of the breaks, but you can expect to get your fair share of luck. Tottenham are due for a reversal of fortune. Perhaps the match winner will be a cruel deflection that evades Petr Cech.
