Francis Coquelin v Victor Wanyama

Both fan bases are quite fond of their physical midfielders and for good reason. Both Coquelin and Wanyama have been excellent on the young season.

Going forward, you’d have to give the advantage to Coquelin. He’s much better equipped to steam forward and aid his club’s attack than Wanyama. Coquelin isn’t required to contribute much offensively, but he certainly has the skills to do so when necessary.

However, Wanyama is a significantly better defender. His sheer size allows him to dominate the midfield at times. Tottenham will need their Kenyan destroyer to be on top form if they want to earn three points on Sunday.

Ultimately, Wanyama gets the edge over Coquelin due to his defensive qualities. He won’t light up the score sheet for Spurs, but he can provide amazing cover for his club’s back four.

Advantage: Tottenham
