Tottenham and Liverpool both want Moussa Marega
Both Tottenham and Liverpool are still harboring dreams of winning a Premier League title this season. Each club will be on the lookout for January transfer help to bolster their chances. Not surprisingly, Moussa Marega appears to be a prime target for both Mauricio Pochettino and Jurgen Klopp.
Reports from England claim that both clubs are preparing bids for the Vitoria de Guimaraes attacker. The talented winger has a release clause of around £40 million, but it’s expected he could be acquired for a significantly smaller transfer fee. A bid of somewhere around £25 million could be enough to bring the Mali attacker to England.
Saying Marega has been on fire this season would be a serious understatement. He already has 10 goals in just nine league appearances on the campaign. His outstanding offensive play is a big reason why his club currently sits third in the league table.
Curiously, Liverpool would seem to be fully stocked in the attacking midfield. Klopp already has a multitude of options at his disposal. Adding Marega to a group that already includes Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho, Georginio Wijnaldum and Sadio Mane. Liverpool also don’t have to worry about the stresses of European football this season.

Tottenham, on the other hand, are in desperate need of additional attacking punch. Spurs have struggled mightily to score goals during Harry Kane’s injury absence. Christian Eriksen still hasn’t found the back of the net this Premier League season and summer addition Moussa Sissoko has failed to impress.
Pochettino also has to rotate his squad to cope with the pressure of Champions League football. Even if Spurs aren’t able to progress into the Knockout Stage, they’ll slide down to that spot in Europa League competition. Tottenham fans are desperate for silverware and will be anxious to see their club progress in any competition possible.
I still wouldn’t be surprised to see Liverpool outbid Spurs. Klopp will be preparing the Reds for next year’s European exploits and Marega could be an excellent rotational option. The Reds certainly have significant money to spend and should be able to win the race for Marega if they’re properly motivated.
