Liverpool Transfers: Reds continue pursuit of Dortmund starlet Christian Pulisic
Liverpool are getting closer to the January transfer window day by day and with the club looking towards the future the rumors are starting to abound.
Liverpool currently have three main attackers in the pecking order with Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi taking the upfront depth chart.
Danny Ings looked like he was ready to start working his way back into contention with at least the cup teams but another knee injury sees him set to miss the rest of this season on the back of missing all of last season.
Additional fact that Saido Mane will be leaving for at least a month for the African Cup of Nations at the turn of the year has Jurgen Klopp and newly promoted Sporting DIrector Michael Edwards looking at reinforcements in January.
One of the longest standing rumors that is gaining traction yet again is a move for Borussia Dortmund’s American starlet, Christian Pulisic.
Klopp still has ties to his former club but it could be a hard thing to get the young American to move this mid-season because he is truly enjoying his football at the moment and manager Thomas Tuchel is unlikely to want to see one of his future stars leave.
However, money always talks and the Premier League has a lot of it and there is just as much reason to say the Reds would break the bank for Pulisic if Klopp wants him as there is to say he is just too expensive.
Recent quotes in the Mirror from Klopp continue to suggest that he wants to make some more changes this winter and that he will have the money to do so since he returned a profit this summer with his club clean out:
"More from Liverpool FCLiverpool’s roller coaster of a season continuesHas the bubble finally burst at Liverpool? How Liverpool can regain their lost gloryThree factors which might determine the fate of the Reds this season3 Liverpool players who can benefit the most from Darwin Nunez’s signing“It’s not about how many strikers. Three is enough, I think. But when Saido is away we will be without a winger. We do not have many wingers, I would say.Roberto Firmino can play as a kind of winger which would then just give us two strikers. It is a long way from January onwards and that month of January is busy.”"
Part of Klopp’s planning is his desire to make the most of all the cup competitions this season and he believes his side has to be prepared for the busiest months even if they are not yet set in stone:
"“If we go to the semi-final of the League Cup, it could be the busiest month of the whole year.We Need to be prepared for this.”"
January holds some very important matches for the Reds already as they will be facing their second matches against Manchester United and Chelsea to name a few.
The signing of Pulisic in January would help to add some cover for the wide areas just in time for him to be of use.
