Liverpool continued their attacking brilliance yet again against visiting Watford and the Reds bombarded their way to the top of the Premier League.

Last week it was said about Liverpool that, “you can’t score four goals every week,” and with that said the Reds went out and scored six in an absolute battering of Watford at Anfield.

In truth it could have been double digits for the hosts if they have put away everything that they created or were handed throughout the match.

From the opening kickoff the Reds were flying forward with their pressing game and it was surprising it took until the 27th minute for them to get on the board.

Saido Mane opened the scoring with a brilliant headed effort from a short corner routine that saw the winger picked out by his frontline teammate Philippe Coutinho, and from there the floodgates opened.

Just three minutes later the Brazilian blasted home a long range low driven shot assisted by Roberto Firmino past Watford keeper Heurelho Gomes who was then subbed off for Costel Pantilimon moments later.

Just before the break Emre Can scored for his second straight match thanks to an Adam Lallana cross that was met excellently by the German as he is getting back to full fitness and full effectiveness.

The second half saw the Reds pick up where they left off as Adam Lallana picked up his second assist on the night by providing Firmino his opportunity to get on the score sheet to make it four goals up to Liverpool.

Firmino turned right around and was provided once again as he picked up his second assist of the game through Mane’s second goal of the match.

Watford would pull one back as James Milner was skinned and allowed Daryl Janmaat to be found in the right side of the 18 yard box and he finished strongly home against Loris Karius.

Daniel Sturridge joined the fray with 20 minutes to play and hit the cross bar twice in regulation and then a save he drew from another well worked Liverpool short corner in stoppage time was spilled into the path of Georginio Wijnaldum whom opened his Reds account finally making the match 6-1, where it would stand.

The Reds end the weekend at the top of the Premier League table all alone follow draws from Arsenal and Manchester City.
