5 Tottenham stars who could be Spurs’ next captain

3. Dele Alli

The precocious midfielder is arguably Tottenham’s most important player at the moment. Alli is certainly the engine capable of making the Spurs’ attacking midfield hum.

It’s easy to forget just how young he is. Alli and Winks are both just 20 years of age. He’s got plenty of time to grow into his game and leadership style.

The one strike against Alli serving as a captain is his propensity to be a bit naughty on the pitch. He still has quite a few petulant moments and is prone to lose his cool. That isn’t something you can allow your captain to get away with.

If becoming Tottenham’s captain was based purely on ability, Dele Alli would be an obvious choice. He will need to work on his composure and poise if he really wants to inherit the captain’s armband one day.
