Tottenham need to add firepower in January

It’s pretty obvious to every Tottenham fan that the club need to make some prudent January additions. Expect Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino to be very active once the transfer window opens.

That doesn’t mean that Spurs are primed to spend a boatload of cash though. They will enter the market gently and frugally. As always, Levy will be looking for value.

Fortunately, the club don’t necessarily need to spend big money. Only small tweaks are needed to the roster. It’s not as if Spurs will be in the market for a world-class striker. At most, Tottenham will look to add one starter during the window.

That reality should cause Spurs to be linked with a number of different players in the coming weeks. Pochettino will certainly have some targets he’d prefer, but I wouldn’t look for him to insist on any high-priced talent. He’ll allow Levy a great deal of flexibility. That means the transfer boss will be free to take a hard-line when negotiating.

Without further delay, here are five stars Tottenham should target in the upcoming transfer window.
