4. Alessio Romagnoli

There are higher profile defenders on the Chelsea transfer hit-list, more of which later, but the club would be well served to snap up Alessio Romagnoli regardless.

It common with Felipe Anderson, Romagnoli is a younger player, at 21, who has already gathered a good amount of experience at the top-level.

Chelsea have had a habit of gambling on younger players over recent past but Romagnoli seems as close as you will get to a sure thing.

It is no secret that Conte has prioritized rebuilding the defence at Chelsea, not untypically for an Italian coach.

Chelsea are thin on the ground there with John Terry, Branislav Ivanovic and even Gary Cahill all the wrong side of 30.

You have to imagine David Luiz was not resigned with the long-term in mind

In addition to the likes of Marcos Alonso and Kurt Zouma, Chelsea need to bring in players to build a new dynasty from the back.

Skilled, tall and athletic, Romagnoli fits the bill and seems like the type of player Conte himself would have enjoyed playing ahead of.

Romagnoli will not come cheaply from AC Milan but ten years from now we could be talking about a player around which a successful Conte Chelsea were built.
