Five players Chelsea should sign in January
By Ryan Willox
2. Carlos Bacca
The second Milan player on the list and there is definitely a sense that Conte might be doing some business with his long-time rivals.
Cesc Fabregas features in this narrative as well, with rumors and reports circulating that he could be offered by way of trade in a deal involving Carlos Bacca.
At 30-years-old, you have to imagine it would be a shorter term contract for Bacca. But, while most of the players on this list have long-game value, Chelsea also need players who can help now.
Diego Costa will get hurt, will get suspended and will miss some games. Despite a lack of European football this season, Chelsea cannot rely on Michy Batshuayi to deliver the goods at this stage.
On-loan Loic Remy has already fluffed his lines in Chelsea blue and there is not another established striker at the club.
If Conte really is done with Fabregas, then some kind of trade that brings Bacca to the Bridge, even for the short-term might end up a deal well done.
In a dream scenario for Conte, he may even rival Costa for the starting slot.
