Chelsea Football Club began play in 1905-1906 as a Division Two side.

Over the next eight decades the club bounced between Division One and Two. It’s hard to believe now, but Chelsea was a Division Two side as recently as 1988-1989.

Chelsea finished in the bottom half of the table during the first four years of the Premier League. The team’s fortunes have changed significantly since then.

In 2003 Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich purchased Chelsea. The Blues have been a power house side ever since.

The club has captured:

  • Four Premier League titles
  • Four FA Cups
  • Three League Cups
  • Two Community Shields
  • One Champions League trophy
  • One Europa League championship

It’s early in the season but Chelsea currently sit alone atop the Premier League table.
