Manchester United

Manchester United have won a record 20 league titles. 13 of these championships have come in the Premier League era. No other English club has had as much success as the Red Devils.

The team was founded in 1878 as Newtow Heath LYR FC. The name Manchester United was adopted in 1902 and Old Trafford became the club’s home ground in 1910.

In addition to the 20 titles, United have collected:

  • 12 FA Cups
  • Four Football League Cups
  • 21 FA Charity/Community Shields
  • Three European Cup/UEFA Champions League trophies
  • One European Cup Winners Cup
  • One European Super Cup
  • One Intercontinental Cup
  • One FIFA Club World Cup

The last time that Manchester United were not a part of England’s top tier was back in 1974-1975. That season the Red Devils won Division Two and were promoted. They have not looked back since.

Throughout the first 22 years of the Premier League Manchester United never finished lower than third. The club’s form has dipped in recent years with seventh, fourth and fifth place finishes respectively over the past three seasons.
