5 players Bayern Munich should sell
With the arrival of Renato Sanches, Xabi Alonso should look to depart.
A player who was brought to the Allianz Arena under Pep Guardiola, Xabi Alonso is another player who has revitalised as his career with a move to Bayern Munich as his football looked to stagnate at Real Madrid.
Joining the club for £7.65 million in 2014, Alonso has played 92 matches for Bayern Munich, with 61 of those coming in the Bundesliga.

Brought in for experience – and to perhaps mentor Thiago Alcantara – Alonso’s career in Munich has certainly been a success, with two Bundesliga medals and one DFB Pokal medal.
Under Ancelotti, Alonso has started nine of 10 Bundesliga games this season, but with playing time next season looking to be minimal, it’s time for the former Spain international to perhaps move to Italy – where the league is slower paced – or a move to the MLS.
However, with Renato Sanches – a £30 million signing from Benfica, and a Euro 2016 winner – now at the club, Alonso is going to find playing time in Munich being more limited, despite recently signing a new contract until 2021.
There’s no question about it that Alonso can be a great mentor to the younger players, which could be a reasoning behind the contract extension, but if it’s playing time the Spaniard wants, then he’s likely going to have to find a move elsewhere.
