5 players Bayern Munich should sell
On loan at Juventus, there is no room for Mehdi Benatia in this squad.
Currently on loan at Serie A champions Juventus, Mehdi Benatia is another defender that is looking likely to depart the club once he returns.
Before his loan move to Italy, Benatia told German media outlet Kicker: “Here in Munich, I have experienced the two most difficult years in my career.”
Although supported by Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Benatia felt that he had to leave the club on loan, before deciding on his future once he returns.
Whether that’s a permanent move back to Italy or not, remains to be seen.
Benatia, 29, joined Bayern Munich from AS Roma in a £23 million deal in 2014, whilst he has featured in just 46 games for the Bavarian club.
A fully fledged international, there’s no doubt that Benatia does have the experience to succeed in the Bundesliga, but with Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels and Javi Martinez ahead of him, the 29-year-old remains fourth choice in Munich.
Not to mention that Carlo Ancelotti also has David Alaba who can play in central defence, whilst they are soon to welcome back Germany international Holger Badstuber, who remains on the books at Bayern despite being constantly injured.
