Luis Enrique’s time as coach of FC Barcelona has unquestionably been a success. Since taking over from Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino in the summer of 2014, the former star has led the Blaugrana to a treble and domestic double.

Some may say his job has been easy, given the plethora of legendary players he has had to choose from. But Tata left behind something of a mess, and Lucho’s early days were a struggle and culminated in a public falling out with Lionel Messi six months into his reign.

Under his stewardship, Barcelona have forged a slightly new identity to the one they have become so famous for. Ball possession remains important and they still stick to the same core principles, but their attacking threat has taken centre stage, with Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar combining to make arguably the most feared strike force ever.

All appears well for Enrique, but his contract runs out at the end of the current season, leaving his future uncertain. After Champions League success in 2015, following the completion of his first deal, he signed on again, but not without a lot of time to think things over.

The same situation is months away again, and there is no guarantee Enrique will stay this time. If he doesn’t, Barcelona will need to look elsewhere, and here are five options which could be of interest.
