Bitter rivals Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger face off on Saturday as Manchester United host Arsenal /

Manchester United and Arsenal lock horns at Old Trafford on Saturday and the two have developed quite a fierce rivalry in recent years.

The Red Devils and the Gunners have taken part in some of the most memorable matches since the evolution of the Premier League. These two sides have been involved in some heated encounters over the years. From the “battle of the buffet”, to that Giggs’ goal, to Arsenal’s guard of honor for Robin van Persie and Manchester United, this fixture has produced some memorable moments.

And Saturday’s match promises to be another special one. It’s going to be the first time bitter rivals Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger will lock horns since the former’s sacking at Chelsea. It’s no secret that the two managers aren’t fond of each other. They have developed a heated rivalry of their own over the years. The two even clashed on pitch-side in 2014, when Wenger pushed the now-Manchester United manager.

Mourinho has never lost to Wenger in a competitive fixture, and he will be looking to maintain that record at his new club. Wenger meanwhile, will be out for revenge, after years of struggles against Mourinho.

Whether or not this weekend’s game will join the all-time classic matches remains to be seen. But one thing is for sure, it won’t be one to miss. In the next few articles, I take a look at some of the fixtures that helped make this rivalry so great.
