The Attacking Midfield

This is the spot on the pitch where Tottenham have been hamstrung with the most injuries. Erik Lamela has zero chance of playing on Saturday, while Dele Alli’s availability is in extreme doubt. The absence of those two stars really forces Pochettino’s hand.

Expect Christian Eriksen to get the start in the number ten role. He was excellent in Denmark’s first World Cup Qualifier, but was held out of his country’s second affair. Again, Pochettino insisted yesterday that Eriksen was fit and available for selection. I’m choosing to take him at his word.

Tottenham actually get a player back at one of the wide attacking positions. Time will tell if that’s actually a benefit. Moussa Sissoko is back after his three match suspension and should be in line for a start. It’s a huge opportunity for him to show something positive. If he doesn’t, he could find himself buried on the Spurs bench when his teammates regain their fitness.

Son Heung-Min will man the third attacking spot. He’s another player who needs a strong performance if he wants to remain in the frame for regular playing time. Son started the season on fire, but has really struggled as of late. Saturday would be a great time for him to get back on the mark.
