3. Kevin De Bruyne

Here is a player who bares similarities to both Coutinho and Aubameyang, but for different reasons. Kevin De Bruyne made a real name for himself in Germany after struggling at a big club, just like the Dortmund frontman.

The Manchester City star’s first attempt at playing for one of Europe’s giants ended badly when he was sold by Chelsea to Wolfsburg for $19million in January 2014. The Belgian thrived in the Bundesliga, becoming Europe’s leading assist maker in his one and only full season, moving to the Etihad Stadium for a whopping $60million two summers ago.

It is from there that the parallels with Coutinho emerge. De Bruyne has enjoyed a similar impact in the Premier League, and he would bring comparable creative qualities to Zinedine Zidane’s squad as the Liverpool star.

Injuries threatened to derail De Bruyne’s debut campaign in England, and despite City only managing to finishing fourth under Manuel Pellegrini, his reputation was enhanced by some high-profile performances.

New boss Pep Guardiola has already compared him to Barcelona star Lionel Messi, and it is no surprise that De Bruyne is continuing to respond positively on the pitch.

The high fee paid for him less than 18 months ago and the obvious project being carried out in Manchester, make this a tough deal to clinch. That doesn’t mean Real shouldn’t try, though.
