Chelsea youngster Ruben Loftus Cheek has been at the club since he was 8. He captained the Chelsea U18s as they won the FA Youth Cup in 2013-14, and also helped the U21s win the PL title. Loftus-Cheek made his first team debut in 2014 as an 18-year-old. He was promoted to the first team by then manager Jose Mourinho soon afterwards.
In January 2016, he became the first player to have been at Chelsea since before the age of 15 and score for them since Carlton Cole (excluding John Terry). In all Loftus-Cheek made 14 appearances for Chelsea last season.
This season, he has found opportunities hard to come by under Antonio Conte. He was deployed as a striker in pre-season by the Italian. But the young Englishman has only featured thrice for Chelsea, with two of those appearances coming in the EFL Cup.
Despite not getting many first-team chances, Loftus-Cheek is still considered to be a very talent youngster at Chelsea. Loftus-Cheek has been capped by England at the U16, U17, U19, and U21 level. This summer he took part in the Toulon Tournament with England where he became the first Englishman to win the player of the tournament award since Alan Shearer in 1991.
Now 20, things are still looking up for the Chelsea youngster, and the box to box midfielder could well be Chelsea’s next Cesc Fabregas in the future.
