8. Timothy Fosu-Mensah
The versatile defender joined Manchester United in 2014 from the famed Ajax academy. The highly rated 18-year old has been rapidly progressing ever since and has gone from playing for the under-18s to the first-team in less than two years.
He made his U18s debut in November 2014 and his first-team bow came in February 2016 against Arsenal. Last season, the Netherlands man made 8 appearances for the club. This season, Fosu-Mensah has already appeared thrice for Jose Mourinho’s men. He has shown his versatility in the first-team as well, where he has featured at right-back, left-back, and central-midfield.
A powerful, athletic and pacy defender with great ball controller, Fosu-Mensah has quickly become a popular figure among the Manchester United fans. He signed a new contract with United last month to keep him at the club until 2020. And fans will be hoping to see a lot more of him in the future.
Fosu-Mensah has also played for the Netherlands at every youth level from U15s to U21s. He was called up for the senior side in May, but later dropped out due to fitness issues. Still only 18, Fosu-Mensah has all the ingredients to become a star for both club and country for years to come.
