Harry Kane

Slowly and surely, Tottenham’s most talented striker is beginning to round into form. The club suffered mightily during his injury absence, but he’s looked better and better each match after his return.

Despite my optimism about Kane’s play since his return, it’s still unreasonable to think he can shoulder the full load for the rest of the season. He’s going to need help. It may need to come in the form of a prudent January addition.

As it stands now, Pochettino will need to exercise caution with Kane’s appearances and minutes. That may include giving Janssen the start against some low-level competition in hopes of providing Kane a weekend off every now and then. The manager’s ability to take that risk will be largely depend on the club’s standing in the Premier League table.

Pochettino must remember the season is a marathon, not a sprint. When it comes to Kane, he needs to take an even longer view. The best way to fix his prolific striker is to build his body back to full strength not just for this season, but for seasons to come.
