Tottenham repair guide: How Pochettino can fix each Spurs star
Kyle Walker
The English right back has been one of Pochettino’s best players on the season. His world-class athleticism allows him to make plays that other Premier League fullbacks just can’t make.
Of course, that’s never been Walker’s problem. His challenge has always been improving the mental and skillful aspects of his game. Pochettino has done wonders to improve Walker’s performance in those areas.
Still, there’s room for continued improvement. In particular, Walker can get much better with his ability to utilize the ball in the final third. As it stands, he frequently gets into dangerous positions with the ball, but he seldom makes the opposition pay.
It could be as simple a solution as having Walker spend hours and hours on the practice pitch firing crosses into the box. He needs to learn that each ball he fires towards goal doesn’t need to be perfect. When he’s in such a dangerous area, a good ball hit towards a striker could easily result in a valuable goal.
If Walker can continue to elevate his game, there’s no reason he can’t be considered one of the finest right backs in all of Europe.
