Kieran Trippier

The former Burnley right back is another player who I don’t believe has a real long-term future under Pochettino. He has plenty of skill on the ball, but lacks the speed and physicality to thrive in Tottenham’s high-pressing system.

With that being said, Spurs are likely stuck with him for this season. He won’t see much meaningful playing time behind Kyle Walker, but he should make an odd appearance here and there.

The key for Pochettino is to deploy Trippier in the right sort of matches. He should only play against opponents where Spurs will enjoy the lion’s share of possession. That way, the club can benefit from his ability to provide quality service into the box.

The only other thing Trippier can do to improve between now and the end of the summer is really work on his strength training. He isn’t likely to become a more explosive athlete, but it’s possible he could bulk up in order to become a better defender in tight quarters.
