Vincent Janssen

The Dutch striker is flirting dangerously with being considered one of the biggest flops in the Premier League this season. He’s still looking for his first Premier League goal from open play.

In fairness to Janssen, his first season at Tottenham wasn’t supposed to go this way. He came to England to serve as Harry Kane’s understudy. It was never the club’s intention to start him in so many crucial matches so soon.

What Janssen needs more than anything right now is for Pochettino and company to work to rebuild his confidence. They need to protect him by keeping him away from high-level opposition whenever possible. He needs a steady diet of minnows.

It’s alright for Janssen to make substitute appearance against the Premier League elite. His starts need to be limited due to the weakest opposition possible though. The only thing that can really get Janssen’s Spurs career kick started is to score a league goal from open play.
