5 reasons Manchester United should axe Jose Mourinho immediately
Jose Mourinho isn’t right for Manchester United
When Manchester United hired Jose Mourinho this summer everyone knew it was a significant departure from the club’s culture. He certainly isn’t the dignified manager that most United fans want to see patrol the Old Trafford sidelines. The idea was that his ability to produce results would overshadow any trouble with his prickly personality.
It’s fair to say United’s higher-ups didn’t expect to be 11 points out of first place in the Premier League at the end of November. That’s exactly where the Red Devils find themselves after yesterday’s 1-1 tie against West Ham. It was the club’s fourth straight home draw in league play. It was an ugly affair to say the least.
The squad’s struggles on the pitch leave United’s ownership with a difficult decision. They can continue to back Mourinho with their full financial muscle in spite of his struggles, or they can hack him off at the knees. Firing him now would acknowledge a failure even more pronounced than the appointment of either David Moyes or Louis van Gaal.
While that would be a tough reality for United to accept, it is the truth staring them in the face. Things with Mourinho are going to get worse under Mourinho. They need to cut ties with The Special One now. Here are the top five reasons they should fire their controversial manager as soon as possible.
