Right Back – Dani Carvajal, Real Madrid

At this point, it looks rather top-heavy, but it is hard to argue that Los Blancos have more defensive strength than the Blaugrana.

Carvajal is not a world beater, he doesn’t impact games as much as Marcelo and he isn’t as defensively solid as Sergio Ramos, who can also play at right back.

But the 24-year-old has proven himself to be a solid defender, making him a calming influence for boss Zinedine Zidane.

For years there was only one top class right fullback between these two sides, but since Dani Alves departed for Juventus this summer, Barcelona have struggled to find an able replacement.

Sergi Roberto has done well since moving from central midfield, while Aleix Vidal, the initial replacement, has been nothing more than an unmitigated disaster since joining from Sevilla almost 18 months ago.
