MLS Cup 2016 features two clubs looking to make history. The Seattle Sounders and Toronto FC meet December 10th at BMO Field.

When the MLS Cup playoffs started several weeks ago, the talk around the league mostly centered on which New York club would make the final and could FC Dallas complete the treble. Toronto FC and Seattle Sounders knew it would be an uphill battle to carry out history in their own respects.

Seattle faced arguably the tougher of the two roads to MLS Cup. Defeating Sporting Kansas City in the knockout round 1-0. Then, fending off the presumed champion FC Dallas 4-2 on aggregate and closing with a 3-1 aggregate victory over the Colorado Rapids. It wasn’t pretty at times and injuries played a factor, but, Seattle got it done. Jordan Morris played incredibly well and ultimately led the Sounders to their first league final in team history.

Scoring goals are crucial for winning a soccer match, especially comes playoff time. Toronto found the back of the opponents net 51 times in the regular season. Come playoff time, the Reds decided to take their scoring up a notch. A 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Union in the knockout round lit the fire. A 7-0 aggregate win over New York City FC sent a clear message, TFC means business. It wasn’t until their 7-5 aggregate win over the Montreal Impact did the true nature of Toronto shine through to the MLS world.

Two clubs. Two different stories. One common goal. Win MLS Cup 2016 and cement their place in MLS history. No matter how you slice it, there is something for everyone next Saturday night in Toronto. Check out these five reasons you should be watching this marquee match-up.
