2. Appreciate what Seattle has overcome to get here

If you would’ve asked any Seattle fan in early July if there was a chance to play for an MLS Cup, you would’ve gotten laughed out of Washington. The Sounders were in ninth place in the Western Conference standings in early July. To borrow from the Hunger Games, the odds were not in their favor after starting 5-2-9. To make matter worse, USMNT forward Clint Dempsey would leave the club with health issues.

Thanks to lights out play from Nicolas Lodeiro and Morris, Seattle would go on a three-game and four-game win streak. Before the massive turn around, it appeared Seattle was doomed for another disappointing finish and more dust collecting on their MLS Cup trophy case.

    Two huge moments revived the Cascadian kings season. Long-time head coach Sigi Schmidt was let go from his position, and midfield maestro Lodeiro signed with the club.
