The Hammers visited the Emirates on the first day of the 2015-2016 season. Arsenal dominated the match with 62% of the possession and 22 shots on goal to West Ham’s 8. Unfortunately games aren’t won on paper and the Gunners found themselves on the end of a frustrating 0-2 opening day loss.
The rematch took place this past April at the Boleyn Ground. Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez gave Arsenal a two goal lead after 35 minutes. Then everything fell apart as Andy Carroll took center stage. The striker scored three times within seven minutes and 14 seconds to leave the Gunners reeling. Laurent Koscielny got one back late on for a draw. By then though, the damage was done.
Arsenal players will head in to Saturday’s match with revenge on their minds.
