It’s that time of year again where the nerves start to fray at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are still very much in the hunt for the Premier League title and are through to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

After years of frustration in the major competitions the inevitable question remains over whether the Gunners can go the distance.

Supporters are sick of Spring time collapses denying their side a shot at glory.

Arsenal’s failure to win a title since 2004 and their six consecutive exits from the Champions League have been reported exhaustively over the lean years.

Much of that has centered around manager Arsene Wenger’s transfer policy and his apparent (but challenged) reluctance to match the spending of rivals.

So will it be Groundhog Day for the Gunners? Will they stand pat and hope to go with what they’ve got in the face of the weight of historical evidence?

Or will the Premier League see a different Arsene Wenger at last, determined to turn potential into points and points into trophies?

Here are five signings Arsenal should make in January to ensure that happens.
