The biggest matchup in club football will take place this Saturday when Barcelona host league leaders Real Madrid

El Clasico is arguably the biggest matchup in the club football, with more than 500 million viewers tuning in around the world. La Liga officials are expecting even more viewers this season, as they plan to target Asian and African markets to increase the league’s popularity furthermore.

For this season’s edition, Barcelona are set to welcome in Real Madrid tomorrow as the two sides clash in week 14 of 2016/17 La Liga.

The teams are currently six points apart from each other. Barcelona are also level in points with Sevilla, and only three points ahead of Atletico Madrid. If they happen to lose this game, they could go all the way down to the fourth place on the table.

The football is great, but this rivalry is much more than that. It is a clash of cultural and political differences as the Catalonia region trying to overpower its counterparts in Madrid.

Real Madrid, although away from home, enter the game as favorites.
