Ranking the 20 Premier League managers
By Roy Emanuel
A review and ranking of the Premier League’s managers.
The English Premier League is the home to several of football’s finest managerial minds. The recent arrivals of successful European leaders like Pep Guardiola, Antonio Conte and Jurgen Klopp have created a competitive atmosphere unlike many seen before.
Each can bring unique approaches, tactics and abilities to their clubs.
The 2016-17 season has seen few teams truly separate themselves at the top of the table. Chelsea are currently enjoying an incredible run of form, winning eight consecutive matches coming into a busy December fixture list.
Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City sit closely behind, with Tottenham within shouting distance as well. The current campaign could present one of the most competitive title races in the league’s history.
With such a premium on every result and every point, the work of a Premier League manager can mean the difference between failure and success. But what exactly separates one from the other? Intangibles and variables certainly exist, with tactics and experience coming into play also.
For our rankings, the focus was on five key areas. The current season, managerial experience, Premier League experience, tactical style and player management were all aspects of what was taken into account.
Ultimately it is up to the players to carry out a manager’s plan, with success and failure on the pitch deciding his fate. But the talented managers who make up the Premier League have a tremendous effect on their club’s performances.
Without further ado, the 20 managers in the English Premier League ranked from bottom to top.
