Jurgen Klopp – Liverpool

Liverpool’s resurgence in both form and attitude in recent times can be directly attributed to their charismatic and supremely talented manager. Jurgen Klopp arrived at Anfield in October of last season and nothing has quite been the same since.

Klopp’s managerial career began at Mainz 05 in 2001 after his playing days came to an end. He moved on to Borussia Dortmund in 2008 and led the club to unprecedented success in the Bundesliga. Two consecutive league titles followed soon after, with the 2011-12 campaign featuring shattered records with seemingly every match.

The German maestro orchestrates a tactical approach based on winning the ball quickly and passing even faster. Known as “gegenpressing”, the philosophy was able to dethrone Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and has the Liverpool attack dominating their opponents in the Premier League.

Players like Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi are thriving in the new system for the Reds. Their 6-1 demolition of Watford last month showed how dangerous the attack can be when in top gear.

Klopp’s player management abilities are not to be discounted as well. His ability to connect and the responses that he gets from his squad are often remarkable. Liverpool supporters, just as Borussia Dortmund before them, have taken a great liking to Klopp and the leadership that he brings.

Liverpool are playing some of their best football heading into 2017. With Jurgen Klopp’s excellent management, they will certainly be involved in this season’s title race.
