Jose Mourinho – Manchester United

Jose Mourinho is often called one of the best managers in world football and no one would tell you that faster than the man himself. One of the most successful individuals of the Premier League era, the Special One leads a club like no other.

His years with FC Porto in Portugal announced his presence on the European stage. A league title and his first triumph in the UEFA Champions League during the 2003-04 season was a remarkable achievement.

Mourinho’s first stint at Chelsea brought the club’s first top-flight league title in 50 years, with consecutive championships from 2004 to 2006. Two League Cups and one FA Cup were added before he left for Inter Milan.

A historic treble with the Nerazzurri in 2010 and a La Liga title with Real Madrid in 2012 showcased his incredible credentials. Mourinho’s ability to find success in a variety of leagues and countries is second to none.

A return to Stamford Bridge in 2013 yielded another Premier League title the following season. Despite these positives, Mourinho’s attitude can be a detriment to his work. All of his stops ended in disagreements and many times with anger towards ownership.

A results-based approach to matches does not always endear him to a club’s supporters also.

Jose Mourinho’s arrival at Manchester United this summer began well, but his club have been in poor form as of late. With players like Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Anthony Martial in the line-up, better results are bound to be on their way with a manager of Mourinho’s caliber.

The 2016-17 season has not had a perfect start for the Red Devils, but Jose Mourinho’s history in the Premier League and Europe points to that changing sooner rather than later.
