4. Improving health

Lost in the star-studded matchup against Barcelona is the fact that Real entered the match with several key injuries. No, Gareth Bale won’t be back in time for the Dortmund tie, but Zidane may get three squad members back for his matchday 18.

Alvaro Morata, Fabio Coentrao and Danilo all have resumed training this week which should make them available for selection. I wouldn’t expect any of the three to start the match, but seeing one of the defenders crack the starting XI wouldn’t be a major surprise either.

The return of Morata gives the club a dangerous attacking option to deploy from the bench. Ironically Morata first left Madrid because he didn’t want the super sub role, but now he’s returned to reassume it.

Real Madrid may not get any starters back on Wednesday, but they’ll take a much more complete squad into the match against BVB. That should give them more than enough quality to overcome their visitors.
