2. Real Madrid are in better form

The dirty little secret about Borussia Dortmund this season is they are struggling mightily in Bundesliga play. They’ve excelled in Champions League competition, but only occupy the sixth position in their league table. Contrast that with Real Madrid’s six point cushion in La Liga and it’s easy to see which club are playing better football.

Now, in fairness to Dortmund, some of their league struggles have to be attributed to the energy they’ve expended in Champions League play. Still, it’s obvious that Tuchel’s squad isn’t exactly white-hot coming into this match.

I feel compelled to remind you that Real Madrid are yet to lose a match this season. That includes the reverse fixture which ended in a 2-2 draw. It’s almost impossible to imagine Dortmund handing Zidane’s squad their first defeat of the season on their home ground.

Of course, Dortmund only need a draw. That’s enough for them to win the group. It won’t matter, Real Madrid are simply playing too well this season. They’ll ride their supreme form to an emphatic victory on Wednesday.
