These five Tottenham stars need Europa League play

Some Tottenham fans aren’t overly excited about the prospects of the club entering the Europa League. Others see it as a wonderful avenue into Champions League football. No matter what fans think, certain players will certainly benefit greatly from European football.

The idea of Spurs focusing on just the Premier League sounds great in theory, but it’s terrible for Mauricio Pochettino in practicality. The club simply have too much talent to only be involved in one competition.

Only having one match a week would leave the Spurs manager with some really difficult choices. On one hand, he views his job with Tottenham as a long-term project. Part of that means he needs to bring youth through into the first team. That can be very hard to do in the midst of a tense Premier League campaign.

The Europa League, on the other hand, presents Pochettino with a high-pressure laboratory to bring different players into the fold. Remember, just because the club are entered into Europa League competition doesn’t necessarily mean they’re going to field their strongest XI every time out.

Some may see the Europa League as a burden, but these five Spurs stars are exceedingly happy to be involved in European football.
