1. Harry Winks

The latest Tottenham academy product to break into Mauricio Pochettino’s first team is midfielder Harry Winks. I still have serious questions about where the young Englishman fits into the club’s future plans.

Chiefly, I’m unsure whether or not Winks is an attacking or defensive midfielder. He has the body type of an attacking player, but seems to be preferred in the double-pivot. The fact is that Winks is a bit undersized to play as a defensive midfielder.

Then again, Scott Parker wasn’t exactly a mountain of a man when he patrolled the middle of the pitch at White Hart Lane. Winks is already larger than Parker ever will be. It’s also possible his body will fill out given the fact that he’s only 20 years of age. In particular, he could add much-needed bulk to deal with Premier League attackers.

There’s also the chance that his passing skill could allow his future at Tottenham to be an attacking midfielder. That might surprise some Spurs fans, but I think it’s a very distinct possibility. The Europa League could give Mauricio Pochettino an opportunity to experiment with Winks playing a little further forward in the formation.
