Current form

After a fantastic campaign last season, Dimitri Payet has struggled to find the same form in 2016-17. Fatigue from competing with France at Euro 2016 over the summer has played a major role, but it is an issue that Manchester United need to be wary of.

Payet enjoyed an incredible run with Les Bleus to the Euro 2016 final, falling just short in extra-time to Portugal. The tournament featured a heavy amount of matches for all involved and certainly influenced the start of Payet’s season with West Ham.

Manager Slaven Bilic limited the Frenchman’s playing time early on during a period of rest, but the club’s play suffered as a result. Now finding themselves near the bottom of the table when so much was expected this season, West Ham are in a difficult situation.

Payet has one goal and five assists through the 12 league matches that he has played.

After his incredible debut season in the Premier League, could opposing sides be catching up to Payet? Is 2016-17 all down to fatigue?

These are important questions that United and Mourinho must ask themselves in regards to his possible transfer.
