Could Liverpool FC target Azmoun in January?

3. Sardar Azmoun

FC Rostov’s Sardar Azmoun has also been linked with the Reds ahead of the January window. But, though the Iranian forward has produced efficient numbers in 2016, he might end up being nothing more than a smokescreen for another name.

Another Russian Premier League attacker, Azmoun has mainly impressed on the international stage after Champions League goals against Atletico Madrid and FC Bayern in November put his name up in lights.

And while his numbers look iffy when scanning through the entire season, it’s worth noting that out of his four goals and two assists in RPL and UCL play, all four of his goals and one of those assists have come since the beginning of November.

Is it just a surge in form for the 21-year-old or a sign of something more? Seeing as his side did not advance to the Champions League Round of 16, it will be up to Klopp to judge based on what he has seen so far and his end product as the league campaign continues.
