Striker and Keeper

I’ve spent most of this piece discussing potential risks that Pochettino might take. While I believe the Argentine gaffer would like to rest Harry Kane in this match, I don’t believe he has a real opportunity to make that choice.

If Vincent Janssen were healthy, things might be different. Given his lack of availability, Spurs simply have to give Kane the start up top. The only other option would be to deploy Son in that role. His poor form of late also makes that an unlikely gamble.

In goal, Michel Vorm is very capable of playing against Hull, but he won’t get that opportunity. Hugo Lloris is going to get the start unless something tragic happens in training. He’s the Spurs captain and will want to be out there to get the club back on track.

Mauricio Pochettino gets paid good money to make touch managerial choices, but who will start at either striker and keeper against Hull simply doesn’t qualify. Choosing to start Kane and Lloris is so easy that even Tim Sherwood could do it.
