A potent attack

Bayern Munich boast several of the world’s best attacking footballers, with Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller able to stretch any defence. But Arsenal are able stand up to this challenge with their front-line as well.

Alexis Sanchez has been a force this season. His pace and powerful free-kicks put constant pressure on the opposing side. The Chilean international will need to be at his best against Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Sanchez has scored 14 goals across all competitions thus far in the current season.

The Gunners possess depth in their attack also. Theo Walcott has performed well in the Premier League and has ten goals overall to his name this term. His pace on the wing and ability to create space opens up opportunities for others in dangerous areas, even against the most talented of squads.

Although he has not played as large of a role as he has in recent years, Olivier Giroud provides another dimension at the striker position. The Frenchman’s size and talents in the air can be an asset both in the run of play and in free-kick situations.

Arsenal’s attack has been formidable this season and will certainly require strong performances from the Bayern defence in order to be stopped in the Round of 16.
