The Merseyside Derby is no regular affair, despite its nickname as “The Friendly Derby.”

For Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side, the race for the title is looking more like a runaway than a competition. While LFC midfielder Gini Wijnaldum is confident his side can still win the title, Chelsea’s victory at the weekend has them nine points clear of Liverpool with the Reds only able to cut that deficit to six with a victory in the Merseyside Derby.

For Ronald Koeman’s Everton side, despite a great result over Arsenal last week, they still sit ninth in the Premier League table and would still be eight points off fourth place with a win today. Romelu Lukaku is the man trying to regain his form on the blue side of the River Mersey, but he has an active focal point if his side wants to pick up all three points today.
