4. A tight affair

Fans on the red side of the park will remember the most recent Merseyside Derby finely – a 4-0 win over Everton at Anfield that was only dampened by the injury to Divock Origi on a challenge from Ramiro Funes-Mori that saw him earn a clear red card.

However, the story at Goodison has been different recently with all four of the last meetings ending in a draw.

Last time out at Goodison, Danny Ings opened the scoring for Brendan Rodgers’s side before a last-gasp bit of brilliance from Phil Jagielka earned the Blues a point. The match would prove the end of Rodgers’ reign as he was sacked just over an hour after the full-time whistle. Both managers enter this match with quite a bit of job security.

While neither Klopp or Koeman have their jobs on the line today, there is more than city bragging rights at stake tonight. It’s a tense Premier League encounter to be sure.
