#3 A new winger

Monday’s match put into sharp contrast the difference between Yannick Bolasie’s contribution and that of his replacements.  For my money, Enner Valencia was the worst Everton player on the field Monday as he gave possession away at nearly every opportunity.  On the opposite side, Aaron Lennon was forced into far too many defensive duties, but his contribution to the attack also left me wanting.

The rumors have of course been touting Memphis Depay and his Dutch connection to Ronald Koeman as a possible loan fill in, but the Christmas gift doesn’t even have to be that extravagant to satisfy me.  A simple north-south style attacking winger who could insert some pace and keep the ball in possession would be good enough for me.  An in-form Championship player would contribute more than Valencia did Monday and that is all I would require for this third gift for Everton fans.

With all the new money supposedly in the club now, spending five or ten million should just be a drop in the bucket.  The in-form Championship player wouldn’t even have to be a young hot-shot prospect, rather a season veteran with some Premier League experience would be great.

A perfect signing would be Derby’s Tom Ince who has been a hot name the past few summers and is once again playing quite well in the Championship with eight goals and a few assists thrown in. An Ince level would be a wonderful gift for Everton fans to unwrap that is completely reasonable.
