5 Christmas gifts Everton fans deserve this year
By John Harbeck
#4 Reserve striker
Ok, I know Romelu Lukaku is one of the top strikers in the Premier League. He is Everton’s best chance to score every match and should be given an opportunity to play a full 90 each and every time out. However, I think Everton should spend their fourth gift on a bit of depth behind him.

This was attempted a year ago with the unfortunate signing of Oumar Niasse who never had a chance. Niasse has been a disaster and outside of a few matches when he first came over hasn’t been heard from again. It is a shame that the high price tag for Niasse didn’t work out, but that shouldn’t scare Everton away from attempting another move. For this Christmas, Everton fans deserve to unwrap a quality reserve striker, someone who can actually be inserted into a match and bring the capability to change it.
I believe in Koeman to have connections in the Eredivisie and know a capable striker who could provide a spark off the bench as a second striker or to give big Rom a break.
Once again, the idea was there a year ago, but Everton was unwilling to go out and fix their mistake in the summer. In the few matches that Lukaku missed to begin the season, Gerard Deulofeu filled in nicely as a false nine, but it certainly isn’t sustainable for him to do it multiple weeks. A nice reserve striker would once again be a perfect gift for Everton fans.
